With the GLI consisting of RPI, MTech, and FYS, I think we can withstand the loss of a couple of Forwards. As good as Z & Wburg are, I'm happier keeping Burlon on the UM roster seeing how our D has a recent history of being doomed. In Addition we'll finally have Rust playing in the GLI. So we got that going for us...which is nice.

All too often I think fans get caught up in the moment. Many times in the past I can remember thinking, "Man we've got a good team" only to look back a few years later on that same team and think, "Geez we weren't that good actually." I think Wings fans are facing the opposite of my example. If these were the lean years would Wings fans want Hossa? I think so. Seems like he's got the support of the players and coaches on DET, so it's up to him if he wants to take a discount or sign for more elsewhere. If people think the money is better spent on young D fine, but who? There's typically no logical answer when you ask people that question. How about using some of the young guys from GR while there are still great veterans in the mix?

Also. I know it's just a BIG rumor, but Tim, what are your thoughts on the JMFJ to ANH trade? Not whether or not it'll happen, but just implications? Pronger is a stud, but he's not getting any younger. Then there's a possible JMFJ-Mitera reunion. They'd sure be UM heavy in ANH. CGY vs ANH would be a fun matchup to watch.

If we can get Hossa signed for 4 million a year, I'd be all for it. Not even a second thought. But, I highly doubt that will happen. I think the lowest they will get him for is slightly under 5 million per year. And, that is a best case scenario.

Sorry, despite Hossa's numbers I'd take Datsyuk over him any day.

The way Datsyuk controls the puck and his presence on the ice is something that Hossa can never touch.

Let Hossa go and bring back Kozlov and put him on a line with Datsyuk.

Put the rest of the money towards a young defensemen; the Wings have a much, much bigger needs on defense.

I agree wrt Hossa. Yes, he didn't produce offensively in the Finals, and I think if Detroit had played anybody but the Pens he wouldn't have put so much pressure on himself and been more on his game. But he's human. I'd love to have him back.
