Yeah, its true about Summers. He told me a couple of weeks ago. I was pretty surprised, but good for him.

I think this is the year that Rust and Hagelin really turn it on, though. I'm very excited to see what the off-season has done to these guys.

That actually makes a lot of sense and I'm kind of pissed at myself for not thinking of it sooner. He played for Little Caesars and actually dressed with the USA NTDP for a little while at the end of the season after Yanakeff was let go.

@Anon #1: I didn't mean for it to sound like I didn't think Czarnik contributed. He played better than his numbers indicated and his numbers weren't even that *bad*, but I'm sure he didn't get off to the start he was looking for with 1 goal in 27 games.

I think Winnett kind of is what he is at this point. Solid enough defensively, makes a pretty nice play here and there (he made a couple HUGE breakout passes last year), but not at all what I was expecting with him coming out of the BCHL and all.

You're right about Hagelin (and I would put Rust in that mix as well). They've both got it in them to put up huge numbers offensively and I'd love for them to show it. Hagelin actually led the team in shots last year. I wouldn't have bet on that...

@Anon 2: Yeah we're going to have an even bigger log-jam next year, assuming Burlon doesn't leave early. Summers, Kampfer and Elmblad leave, 3 studs come in. You're at 9 defensemen again if Burlon's back, but all 9 would be in the mix for playing time.

I wouldn't necessarily call Z's freshman year a disappointment. Sure the stats weren't what we were expecting, but he contributed. A disappointing player who I'd love to see turn it around would be Winnett. And someone I'd love to see take it to the next level is Hagelin. As great as he is, I think he's got it in him to make a Kolarikesque jump in production.
